PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION |
Caltrans utilizes various methods to support the implementation of roundabouts, including project reviews of design and operations at all project phases, development and delivery of training, and a monthly roundabout & other intersections forum.
This presentation will focus on the roundabout & other intersections forum, including its history, purpose, and current status.
The forum is used to facilitate a simple goal: install safer intersections in California. The breadth and reach of communication that the forum provides allows efficient and useful knowledge transfer of best practices, needs identification, and guidance updates throughout the 12 districts.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES |
Learning Objective 1: To identify the advantages of utilizing a statewide forum so that other state agencies, local agencies and consultants can promote roundabouts and other alternative intersections.
Target Audience: As noted in the learning objectives, the target audience includes state agencies, local agencies, and consultants.
ROUNDABOUT DISCUSSION |
Caltrans' roundabout & other intersections forum has so far shown to be an effective tool in supporting roundabout intersection designs for their projects. The forum is open to to anyone in Caltrans who has an interest or stake in roundabouts and wants to provide input from their perspective to assist in implementing safer intersection designs in California.
