SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Alexandra Beaumont is the Head of the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) within the UK Government’s Department for Transport and is a policy and project management professional with a career in environmental policy. Her background is in shipping decarbonisation and biodiversity policy, and she now heads a passionate team leading forward the UK’s efforts on Maritime Decarbonisation Research and Development as well as the establishment UK-International and Domestic Green Shipping Corridors.
PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
The UK SHORE programme has £206m R&D funding to accelerate the technology necessary to decarbonise the UK domestic maritime sector. This ambitious programme covers low to high TRL innovation, and includes Green Corridors to help create the next steps for decarbonising shipping routes both domestically and internationally. We will set out the key schemes in the programme, and update on the UK-US Green Corridor taskforce as announced at COP27.
