Biography
Kase Poling is a transportation and resilience engineer at Toxcel LLC and a Ph.D. candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. He is a certified Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP).
His research interests revolve around disaster response and infrastructure recovery following severe flood events. He is passionate about working with government agencies to create more resilient infrastructure systems.
Biography
Tripp Shealy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. He is also the director of the interdisciplinary graduate program in Sustainable Land Development. His research and consulting leverage behavioral and cognitive science to help engineers and their clients think about sustainability and resilience in new ways. He teaches graduate courses about human behavior and engineering design, sustainable infrastructure systems, adaptive reuse, and redevelopment.
