Biography
Julie Eaton Ernst is the Climate Resilience Practice Leader at HNTB, and a licensed professional civil engineer devoted to transforming our built, natural, and social environments to be resilient, sustainable, healthy, and equitable. She specializes in integrating climate projections into transportation projects using a risk-based approach and navigating the intersection of policy and engineered solutions. A published subject matter expert, Julie has over a decade of experience working with public sector clients on adapting their infrastructure to be resilient.
Julie has led multiple award-winning projects that have set standards for integrating climate resilience with in transportation planning and design, including the RMAT Statewide Climate Resilience Design Standards Tool and Boston’s Climate Resilience Design Guidelines for protecting rights-of-way. Julie serves as chair of the Climate Change and Air Committee for the Environmental Business Council (EBC) of New England and on the External Advisory Board of the Sustainable Solutions Lab at UMass Boston. She has been nationally recognized for her contributions to the industry, including being a recipient of the 2018 Ascending Leader Award from EBC, and 2022 Young Professional of the Year Awards from ACEC Massachusetts and ACEC Nationals.
