Biography
Dr. Torres-Machi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. She has a dual PhD degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain and the Catholic University of Chile. Dr. Torres-Machi has more than 10 years of experience working on advancing the current management of infrastructure assets, with a focus on highway projects. Cristina Torres-Machi has participated in successful projects funded by public and private agencies for the measurement and prediction of pavement performance, the multi-objective optimization of maintenance programs, and the development and implementation of pavement management systems. She has authored more than 60 publications including journal articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings. Different organizations including universities and the private sector have recognized the research contributions of Dr. Torres-Machi. She has been appointed as appointed as a Young Resilience Fellow by the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering in the Netherlands (2020), received the Abertis International Award on Transportation Research (2016) and the award to PhD excellence by the Catholic University of Chile (2015) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (2017).
Dr. Torres-Machi is the vice-chair of TRB Committee on Transportation Asset Management (AJE30), the vice-chair of the Infrastructure Systems Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers and an active member of the TRB Committees on Pavement Management Systems (AKT10).
