Biography
Tashia is a Senior Transportation Specialist working in the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA’s) headquarters Office of Stewardship, Oversight and Management. Since January 2021, Tashia has worked as a member of the Transportation Asset Performance (TAP) Team to provide direction and national leadership on Asset Management guidance and regulations. She works with FHWA Division Offices, State DOTs, and local agencies also to develop and implement Transportation Asset Management Plans (TAMPs).
Prior to her current position, Tashia was the Director of Planning, Environment and Right of Way for the California Division from June 2016 to January 2021. Primary responsibilities were to ensure the Division Office operates in an efficient manner both internally and externally. Internally, personnel issue such as filling vacancies, workforce planning, and advancing FHWA’s Strategic Plan. Externally, providing stewardship and oversight of the Federal-aid program with FHWA partners and customers.
Tashia’s career with FHWA began in 1993. Tashia served as a Transportation Specialist in FHWA’s headquarters Office of Transportation Performance Management (TPM) developing rulemaking to implement Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) requirements, with more than 32 years of Federal service in a variety of capacities including Transportation Community Planning, Transportation Asset Management (TAM) and Transportation Performance Management. In addition, Tashia served as the Acting Assistant Division Administrator for the FHWA District of Columbia (DC) Division Office from January to April of 2014, and nine years in the FHWA Ohio Division as an Environmental Protection Specialist, where she provided leadership and technical guidance on policies and procedures to assure full implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act. She also served two years as a Planning Specialist, responsible for issues pertaining to Statewide and metropolitan planning provisions and elements within the Federal-aid Highway Program.
