Biography
Monique Stinson, PhD, is the Freight Estimation, Forecasting and Analysis Manager in the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Office of the Secretary (OST-R) Bureau of Transportation Statistics' Office of Statistical and Economic Analysis. Dr. Stinson brings 20 years of experience in statistical and econometric analysis to this role, where her primary responsibilities include managing the Freight Analysis Framework (FAF) program and contributing to freight-related studies. Previously, Dr. Stinson served as Technical Manager of Freight Systems and Analytics at Argonne National Laboratory, where she led freight transportation research as part of the USDOE's SMART and SuperTruck 3 programs. While at Argonne, Dr. Stinson developed a nationwide, agent-based freight transportation model called CRISTAL (Collaborative, Informed, Strategic Trade Agents with Logistics) and led studies in urban freight, e-commerce, electrification, hydrogen fueling, drones, commodity flow growth, and other topics related to freight. Prior to Argonne, Dr. Stinson worked in consulting, academia and government. Her previous experience includes evaluation of passenger tolling systems, transit market analysis, long-distance passenger transportation, and non-motorized transportation analysis. She has conducted performance measurement studies, long-range planning, corridor studies, and stated preference surveys. Dr. Stinson has received international attention for her leadership in advanced freight modeling and has participated in studies throughout the US and worldwide. She is a member of the Transportation Research Board’s Freight Data Committee and Freight Planning and Logistics Committee, chairs the Freight Modeling Subcommittee, is a Handling Editor for the Transportation Research Record, and previously served on the Transportation Research Board’s Bicycle Transportation Committee. Dr. Stinson earned her PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her BS and MS at the University of Texas at Austin.
Co-presenter Biography
