Co-presenter Biography
Dr. Karlis Pujats is a consultant at S&P Global with eight years of experience in the freight transportation sector. He has been involved in estimating an expected diversion of current truck traffic to railroad services for the combining the Canadian Pacific (CP) and Kansas City Southern (KCS) railroad systems. He also took part in developing the FHWA Freight Analysis Framework Version 5 Forecast (FAF5). Previously he worked as a research associate at the University of Memphis, where he developed models and tools for evaluation of
freight network performance. This included processing GPS truck movements data, developing ArcGIS tools that use Commodity Flow Survey microdata and other establishment data to estimate generation of freight, freight trips, and service trips. His work also included creation of custom ArcGIS tools in identifying vulnerable freight links and routes, disaggregating freight flow (TRANSEARCH®) by commodity type to a higher level of spatial resolution, and developing a game theory framework to model cooperation, and competition at
marine ports and container terminals.
