This presentation provides a brief overview of NHTSA's Automated Driving Systems (ADS) research, the Standing General Order with public road crash notifications involving SAE Level 2+ driving automation systems, and other related activities at the agency.
Speaker Biography
Alrik Svenson is a Research Engineer at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in Washington, D.C. He has been with NHTSA since 1998 and currently manages research projects in crash avoidance and automated driving systems (ADS) safety. Previously, he has worked in the areas of heavy vehicle safety, vehicle safety communications, stability control systems for light and heavy vehicles, and tire safety. Mr. Svenson has a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from The Catholic University of America and is a recipient of the National Highway Institute, Dwight D. Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship.
