Presentation Description
Invest Ottawa founded and operates AREA X.O, an R&D complex in Canada's Capital that enables and accelerates the safe and secure development, testing, training and adoption of next-generation smart mobility, autonomy, and connectivity technologies.
In partnership with Ontario’s AVIN and industry leaders, Invest Ottawa delivered the Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) Pilot Program at AREA X.O: an advanced skills development initiative to help create a globally competitive, future-ready workforce in Ontario. This initiative was successfully completed in the fall of 2021.
Unveiled in June of 2023, the Drone and Advanced Robotics Testing and Training (DARTT) Zone is a high-tech R&D obstacle course at the AREA X.O Futureplex. DARTT features specialized infrastructure designed to put aerial and ground robots through many rigorous tests and challenges to assess and advance their technical performance, safety, and market readiness.
This presentation will provide an executive summary of these advanced skills development initiatives at AREA X.O - outcomes and learnings from the CAV Pilot Program and fresh directions underway for the DARTT Zone.
