This talk will discuss the current state of the ADS standardization landscape and try to make sense of its current status and of the associated research questions.
Speaker Biography
Dr. Scott Schnelle received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University where his research focused on fixed based driving simulators and driver modelling. After graduation, he was a Research Scientist at the Transportation Research Center, Inc. working on ADAS and ADS testing procedures and frameworks. He then took a Federal Engineering job at NHTSA where he worked on ADS safety assurance, including simulation and closed course testing methods. He now is a Safety Best Practices Specialist at Waymo where he continues his works on ADS safety assurance, interfacing between external standardization organizations and internal research.
