A brief discussion of 6G technologies that are of interest to the automotive industry.
Speaker Biography
Dr. Gene Marsh has degrees from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (BS CS/EE 1985), Stanford University (MSEE 1987), and the University of California at Berkeley (PhD EE 1995). He joined Qualcomm in 1985, where he contributed to many of Qualcomm’s early products, including Omnitracs and CDMA cellular aka IS-95. After a leave to attend UC Berkeley, he returned to Qualcomm, where he became a systems lead in the development of the Globalstar satellite system. Between 1999 and 2008, Dr. Marsh held several key positions in leading telecommunications companies including Ericsson, NextWave Wireless and Mobilian. Rejoining Qualcomm in 2008, he has led and contributed to research projects that spanned technologies from impulse radio, to Healthcare, to OneWeb satellite system design. Dr. Marsh is currently a Senior Director in Wireless Research and Development at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. (“Qualcomm”) leading the system design and standardization team for cellular vehicular and automotive communications including physical layer design, medium access control, signaling protocols and radio interfaces.
