It remains unclear how authorities should assess the safety of ADS and what corresponding metrics and information should be generated by the ADS V&V processes for supporting the assessments. Although recent regulations from UNECE provide preconditions for the arrival of ADS, relevant criteria are not yet available to determine the safety aspect. This session introduces various positions on this topic, offering the perspectives and the opinions of the authorities, and will contrast them with the opinion of ADS and solutions providers.
Speaker Biography
A former Intel Vice President, Gil has over 30 years of experience in the verification world, from system-level H/W and S/W verification to VLSI/microprocessors validation and verification. Today, he is the Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer at Foretellix, which he also co-founded. Foretellix is the leading provider of safety-driven verification and validation solutions for automated driving systems and ADAS. Gil is involved in various autonomous vehicle safety standardization and regulation-setting activities. He is the standardization project leader for OpenSCENARIO® 2.0.0 with ASAM and a member of ASAM’s technical steering committee. Gil is also a contributing member and reviewer of various standardization groups in ISO and SAE. On the regulatory side, Gil is a contributor to the UNECE’s VMAD and FRAV working groups , forming the regulations for Autonomous Driving
