Presentation Description
With the aim of contributing to the deployment of automated driving systems, this presentation will focus on sharing common issues related to safety assessment of automated driving systems, deepening understanding of the scenario-based approach, Japan's approach to safety assurance for automated driving systems, and accelerating discussions on the next steps for international collaboration.
Researchers from the SAKURA project, a key collaborator in the realization of the scenario-based approach, will also be in attendance to further the discussion.
The activities of the SKAURA project will be introduced by Dr. Kitajima and Dr. Nakamura of the Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) during the 350 Safety Assurance session.
Speaker Biography
Sato is in charge of developing Safety Assurance Process & Method of Automated Driving at Toyota Motor Corporation. Since 2018, he has participated in the Automated Driving Safety Evaluation Working Group of JAMA and promoted the construction of safety evaluation processes and methods using a scenario-based approach. He is the chair of the automated driving safety assurance committee of JAMA since 2022/Jan.
