The session will introduce the CVSA Enhanced CMV Inspection program for automated driving system (ADS) vehicles. The session will cover a brief history of why the program was developed and breakdown the different pieces of the program, providing information on the role each piece plays to ensure the vehicle is properly maintained according to the federal commercial motor vehicle safety regulations. The session will finish with an update on the current status of the implementation of the program.
Speaker Biography
John joined CVSA in January of 2023 after 21 years of law enforcement service in North Dakota as a state trooper. Prior to joining CVSA, he served in the Motor Carrier Operations division for 16 years and in the role of MCSAP Coordinator for the last five years. John held CVSA inspector certifications in all roadside and hazardous material courses, FMCSA safety investigator certification, and Associate Staff instructor for NTC in Part A, Part B, and PCVI. John served as the CVSA Vehicle Committee chair, CVSA Automated Driving System Workgroup vice-chair, and CVSA Level VIII Electronic Inspection Ad hoc chair. John assisted with the development of the CVSA Enhanced CMV inspection program (for motor carrier operations) and is one of three certified instructors for the course. John has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management Information Science from the University of Jamestown.
