Speaker Biography
David Lucas is the Traffic Technology Branch Manager at the Maricopa County Department of Transportation where he manages the testing, development, and deployment of new and emerging technologies in the areas of Work Zones, Connected and Automated Vehicles and Digital Infrastructure. He has nearly 30 years of experience in ITS, transportation research and multimodal traffic operations and graduated from the University of Arizona with Bachelor’s and Master’s in Systems Engineering. As a Research Engineer at both the University of Arizona and Arizona State University, David conducted research in adaptive signal control, adaptive ramp metering and transit signal priority, with publications in several journals. He was also the ITS Network Engineer for the City of Tempe, where he managed the City’s TMC and ITS infrastructure for over a decade. David is a member of various industry and professional councils and committees and currently serves as the Vice President of the ITE Mountain District and as the Past President of ITS Arizona.
