The presentation shows in brief the current legal background in Germany for use and deployment of autonmous vehicles. It gives insight regarding the overlapping and deviating elements compared to the European regulation.
Speaker Biography
Richard Damm is President of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt, KBA) in Germany. He is also chairman of the UNECE Working Party on Automated, Autonomous and Connected Vehicles in Geneva where the globally effective regulations on automation of vehicles are generated.
Before being appointed President of KBA, Mr. Damm served at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure in Bonn and Berlin.
Richard is an internationally recognised expert in the field of the worldwide harmonisation of vehicle regulations. His current focus is on automation, connectivity and digitisation at national and international level.
He graduated from the Technical University of Munich as mechanical engineer in automotive engineering and product development.
