Megha Sharma earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Civil Engineering from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar and Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, respectively. She received her Ph.D from The University of Texas at El Paso while working on TxDOT funded project. Dr. Sharma’s dissertation “Understanding the Consequences and Cost of Climate Change
on Texas Pavements” was supervised by Dr. Vivek Tandon and awarded outstanding dissertation award 2018-2019. Dr. Sharma has received numerous scholarships during her time as a graduate student at UTEP. Dr. Sharma’s main area of expertise includes pavement design and materials, evaluation of sustainable and resilient infrastructure.

Bio: Dr. Vivek Tandon is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso. He finished his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University and has been focused on improving service life of transportation infrastructure. Dr. Tandon’s main expertise lies in the development and evaluation of innovative sustainable materials for highway infrastructure that generates minimal carbon footprint. Dr. Tandon’s research also focuses on evaluating the impact of extreme climate events on transportation infrastructure. Even though the primary funding source of these projects has been Texas Department of Transportation, He has received additional funding from sources like Department of Home Land Security, Federal Highway Administration, National Cooperative Highway Research Program, IUSSTF, among others. Dr. Tandon has been committee member of various TRB committees and currently is a Handling Editor of TRR.
