Presentation Description
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will share results and lessons learned to-date from its Transit Bus Automation Research Program and introduce the Strategic Transit Automation Research (STAR) Plan 2.0, which is a successor to FTA’s original STAR Plan. STAR Plan 2.0 builds upon the work accomplished from the original STAR Plan and provides a strategic research and demonstration framework for the next five years to advance driving automation systems that meet public transportation needs. Key components of the plan include conducting enabling research on safe, equitable, and effective transit automation deployments, demonstrating nearly-market-ready prototype technologies in real-world settings, and learning from and sharing knowledge with the transit stakeholder community.
