Session Description and Agenda
Description
The safety management system (SMS) model has been instrumental in enhancing safety for the maritime, oil and gas, construction, and aviation industries. Many AV companies integrate SMS into their operations and have adopted best practices for cross-industry implementation.
When boarding an airplane, people don’t worry about safety; decades of aviation safety practice has built confidence in the system. And statistics back that up: there hasn’t been a fatal US commercial airline crash since 2009. Part of this success is due to the annual aviation InfoShare, where stakeholders exchange safety challenges and information. One of the aviation industry’s most impactful safety initiatives over the past 15 years has been the annual InfoShare event, at which aviation stakeholders convene a forum for industry peers to exchange safety challenges, ideas, and best practices.
This spring, the AV sector’s top safety experts convened the first AV Safety InfoShare to tackle the most formidable safety challenges. At ARTS, these SMS experts will unveil highlights from the first AV Safety InfoShare and discuss hurdles that remain, how to address them, and recommended best practices.
