Transportation Technology Engineer, Utah Department of Transportation
Presentation Description
Utah has broad deployments of connected vehicle technology and is continuing to expand that network. The ability to communicate road condition and hazard data, and facilitate communication between vehicles will yield significant safety improvements to vehicles driven by both humans and automated driving systems. The Utah DOT has leveraged state and federal funds for these technology investments. This presentation will discuss how technologies like connected and automated vehicles fits into the state planning programs, how funding is allocated to such programs (in competition with more traditional roadway construction), and how benefits can be demonstrated to encourage investment.
