Presentation Description
Speaker Biography
Dr. Kevin Kefauver is the Director of the Division of Data and Analytics at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute. In this position, Dr. Kefauver is responsible for managing the data analytics personnel and work performed at VTTI, managing sponsored research programs, and developing research strategies for data analysis that utilize naturalistic driving data, crash data, telematics data, and other data sources to evaluate advanced vehicle technologies. These efforts support scenario and test case generation for use within simulation, support safety assurance modeling and evaluation, and quantify driving behaviors for a variety of driving situations. Further, Dr. Kefauver is responsible for developing advanced data processing algorithms to reduce and analyze data, developing test programs, and evaluating test results to solve research questions and support product development and validation. Finally, Dr. Kefauver is skilled in vehicle dynamics, state-of-the-art modeling and simulation techniques and methods, development of mathematical models, computer simulation, data-driven scenario identification and development, and test case generation to support the development, testing, and evaluation of advanced driving systems from naturalistic driving data and other data sources.
