Speaker Biography
Tanya Wenneman has over a decade of experience architecting SMS in transportation across the aviation and autonomous vehicle industries. Currently, Tanya is a Senior Program Manager, Safety Management System at Forterra where she architects and executes the SMS and all related components and elements across the full lifecycle of Forterra’s products.
Prior to joining Forterra, Tanya led the SMS team at Cruise. Additionally, she spearheaded the safety risk management approach and framework at Uber ATG while supporting the closure of the NTSB investigation and recommendations. Before joining the autonomous technology space, Tanya contributed to the safety evaluation and audit program at JetBlue, and secured FAA SMS validation and certification for FedEx Feeder airline Mountain Air Cargo.
Tanya holds a Master of Science in Aeronautics, Human Factors and Safety Systems from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, Air Traffic Control from Kent State University. Her primary areas of interest are Safety and Enterprise Risk Management, Human Performance and Organizational Culture as they impact and foster a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.
