The physical process of transporting commodities, merchandise goods, and cargo has a significant impact on economic development and land use and, in turn, influences economic development and land use. This session will explore across the models how freight movement interacts with economic development and land use efficiency, effectiveness, and equity.
Speaker Biography
Stefan Natzke is the Team Leader for National Systems and Economic Development at the Federal Highway Administration. Among its responsibilities, this office examines how transportation investments influence local or regional economic growth. Stefan has over 30 years of experience in a variety of policy and planning positions at the U.S. Department of Transportation and in consulting an international management consulting firm. His work has focused on economic research into the national and industry-level impacts of highway investment, local and regional economic development impacts of highways, multi-State corridor studies, intermodal and freight planning, legislative analysis and congressional affairs.
