Biography
Mateus is a professor in the Department of Transportation Engineering at the Polytechnic School of Engineering of the University of São Paulo (PTR/Poli-USP). He holds a PhD in Transportation Systems from the University of Lisbon (MIT Portugal Program) and a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP). In addition to his academic research, he has worked for civil society organizations (Techo, apé, WRI Cities, ITDP Brasil, WRI Brasil, Instituto Cordial, ANTP) and transportation consultancies (Logit, TC Urbes, Instituto Movimento) on projects primarily related to the interactions between public policies and sustainable urban mobility. His work in teaching, research, and university extension focuses on transportation planning, the integration of causal methods, and the adoption of mixed-method research approaches.
