Biography
Zach Smith strives to create ways to remove barriers to mobility. As the Equity and Accessibility Program Manager for the District Department of Transportation or DDOT, Zach is charged with implementing the agency’s Equity Assessment Tool to ensure DDOT’s projects, programs and services are equitable. In addition, Zach supervises the Equity and Inclusion Division staff who ensure compliance with civil rights laws and policies such as Equal Employment Opportunity, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Zach is also DDOT’s liaison between various District Advisory Councils and Commissions to improve social and racial equity and ways to make transportation within the District more accessible to persons with disabilities and older adults. Zach holds a Master of Public Administration program from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Economics and minor in Urban Studies from UNC Chapel Hill.
