Speaker Biography
Paul Sloan has been a Government Social Researcher at the Scottish Government for over 17 years, joining in 2006. Paul has worked across a number of governmental portfolio areas including children and young people, lifelong learning, and housing and regeneration. Paul is currently Head of Research, Statistics and Evaluation at Transport Scotland, Scotland’s national transport agency.
Paul manages a multi-disciplinary team of social researchers and statisticians providing a broad programme of analytical work to support key transport polices, including programme and project evaluation, statistical analysis, and mixed methods research.
Prior to working in Government, Paul held research posts in the private sector and academia. He holds a Masters Degree in Social Science Research Methods from the University of Glasgow.
Outside of work, Paul spends most of his time with two young daughters but is also a keen runner, having completed 17 marathons (not counting!) in the UK, Europe and US, including the New York City and Chicago marathons.
