Speaker Biography
Dr. Xiangyu Ren, an environmental scientist, holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from East China Normal University, Shanghai. Currently, she is pursuing an M.S. in Geographical Information Systems at San Jose State University, California. Dr. Ren’s expertise lies in GIS analysis, Geo-AI, and drone and satellite remote sensing. Her current research focuses on machine learning-based crime prediction and wildfire analysis using drone remote sensing. Before joining SJSU, she worked as an environmental engineer at Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Co., Ltd, contributing to Low Impact Development design in environmental planning and engineering. Dr. Ren is a multidisciplinary problem solver who is dedicated to sustainability and creating a greener, safer world.
