Speaker Biography

Bio: Siyu Zhang is a Ph.D. candidate at Florida International University (FIU), specializing in travel behavior and transportation equity. Since 2021, Siyu has been conducting research under the supervision of Dr. Xia Jin. Her research focused on topics such as active transportation and health, travel behavior of disadvantaged groups. She is dedicated to addressing the gaps in knowledge and finding innovative solutions to the challenges faced in these areas. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Siyu got a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy from University of Illinois at Chicago and a master’s degree in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology. These academic achievements demonstrate her commitment to continuous learning and acquiring knowledge in transportation planning and big data analysis.
In addition to travel behavior and equity studies, she has also been involved in transit demand modeling projects during her internship in Regional Transportation Authority of Northeastern Illinois (RTA). She is an active member of Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) in FIU, serving as the Vice President.
