Speaker Biography

William R. Vavrik, Ph.D., P.E. is the Senior Vice President for Transportation and Infrastructure at Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA). He is an active member of the TRB, serving on committees in highway materials and construction.

Bill has been a trusted subject matter expert for the US DOT, Department of Defense, and dozens of State DOTs, counties, cities, toll roads, and industry. He has designed and contributed to the development of billions of dollars of pavement and infrastructure across North America.

He is currently working with the US Army Engineering Research and Development Center to advance additive construction using indigenous materials that support a transportation and mobility mission.

He is a earned a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states. Bill and his wife have four children and they live in Champaign, IL.
