Presentation Description
State Route 37 (SR 37) is a key regional connection in the San Francisco Bay Area, linking housing and job markets between Napa, Solano Counties and Marin, Sonoma Counties. The corridor experiences a number of challenges, including traffic congestion, seasonal flooding, and permanent inundation due to anticipated sea level rise. The Metropolitan Transportation Commission, in collaboration with its partners, has developed a comprehensive improvement plan for the corridor that integrates transportation, ecology and sea level adaptation into a more resilient SR 37.
The Sears Point to Mare Island Improvement Project is a near-term multi-benefit project that will improve mobility by improving traffic flow, reducing peak travel times, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving safety and public access, while enhancing corridor resilience by protecting the roadway from near-term flooding and subsidence with roadway protective measures and nature-based shoreline protection.
