Presentation Description
The shift towards app-based travel behavior monitoring and incentive programs is a transformative approach used by the North Central Texas Council of Governments aiming to enhance efficiency, safety, and public satisfaction. This broad strategy includes the implementation of innovative solutions, like the GoCarma smartphone application, which serves as a cornerstone for a variety of initiatives within the DFW metroplex, including High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) verification, modal shift incentives, and integration with other programs, such as the regional loyalty commute program, Try Parking It. Additionally, this app-based technology is playing a crucial role in supporting the State and Local Transportation Sustainability and Flexibility Act (STSFA) grant projects focused on road user charging.
This comprehensive approach addresses several key objectives: promoting sustainable travel behaviors, optimizing the use of existing infrastructure, and improving the overall user experience in transportation systems. By leveraging technology, specifically smartphone applications, these programs are able to monitor travel behaviors in real time, providing data-driven insights that enable targeted incentives aimed at encouraging shifts towards more sustainable modes of transportation.
