Presentation Description
Los Angeles is preparing for a series of major international sports events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl 2027, and the 2028 Olympics, with a “no car” initiative led by Mayor Karen Bass. This plan includes expanding public transportation, adding 3,000 buses, and encouraging remote work. The Game Route Network (GRN) will span 360 miles, primarily on highways and local roads, to accommodate the influx of spectators and volunteers. Utilizing existing managed lanes and implementing strategies like Integrated Corridor Management and AI camera enforcement will help manage traffic. The investments made for LA28 will enhance traffic signal infrastructure, implement camera enforcement, and provide valuable learning opportunities for transportation professionals. With careful planning and strong cross-agency collaboration, LA28 aims to leave a lasting legacy for the region’s transportation infrastructure.
