Speaker Biography Juliana Chengula is a distinguished ITS engineer and researcher specializing in Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications for transportation safety. She is currently an ITS Engineer at HNTB Corporation, where she is responsible for the design of ITS solutions using emerging technologies. Her research studies have focused on advanced driver assistance systems, driver anomaly detection, and transportation safety using ML and AI. Chengula has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals such as Machine Learning with Applications and International Journal of Transportation Science and Technology. She presented her research findings at international conferences, and earned prestigious accolades, such as the 2024 Lifesavers Traffic Safety Scholarship, the WTS strategic scholarship by Jacobs, and the IBM Masters Fellowship Award. Ms. Chengula also served as a peer reviewer of TRB standing committees in 2023 and other journals.
