Speaker Biography
Dr. Silvy Sirajum Munira brings over a decade-long commitment to designing transportation solutions for local communities, prioritizing safety, reliability, and sustainability. In her current role as Mobility Data Manager at UT Austin's Center for Transportation Research, she specializes in extracting data-driven insights from connected vehicles, AI tools, crowdsourced, probe, and synthetic data. These insights are integral for improving incident management and fostering equitable, multimodal transportation planning, emphasizing safety and mobility.
Dr. Munira earned her Ph.D. at the Texas A&M University in Transportation Engineering for her work in developing innovative methodologies for obtaining accurate nonmotorized demand estimates, by fusing both traditional and emerging data sources. As a Graduate Research Assistant at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, she played a pivotal role in substantial big data projects under the Safety through Disruption (Safe-D) and Center for Transportation Safety initiatives, working on pragmatic, scalable solutions for teen driver and non-motorized traffic safety.
Dr. Munira's versatile background encompasses a Master's degree in Transportation Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, hands-on experience as a Traffic Engineer on Bangladesh's first inter-city Expressway project, and an internship at the Asian Development Bank in Manila.
