Lead Presenter Biography
Katie Handel is a Senior Transportation Engineer and Roundabout Specialist with Jacobs. Her 12 years in transportation consulting have been nearly exclusively dedicated to the geometric design, analysis, planning, and PS&E preparation of 120 roundabouts. She is an active member of the Transportation Research Board's Standing Committee on Roundabouts and Other Intersection Design and Control Strategies (AKD80), leading the Video Theatre subcommittee.
Katie is passionate about engineering education and enjoys teaching roundabout geometric design courses. She believes that the more engineers that understand roundabouts, the better for public safety.
Mrs. Handel is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. She is a registered professional engineer in the states of Washington and Texas.
