Lead Presenter Biography
After spending a career at a State DOT working as a traffic engineering manager, Brian transitioned to the consultant side of the transportation world in 2024. His extensive technical and policy work in transportation at all levels of government has been instrumental with continuing to assist clients with transportation challenges in safety, operations, design and research. Brian is the past chair of the Roundabouts Committee (AKD80) and has attended all 7 TRB Conferences dedicated to this subject of roundabouts. With his 2nd career, Brian is supporting the broader transportation field in the Pacific NW especially in geometric innovation needed in the reworking of the transportation system. Roundabouts are very innovative and lend themselves to scalability and sustainability and this Conference he will share with us one of those innovations, namely Compact roundabouts and finding the tradeoffs with performance, operations and cost the willingness to look at the system and improve safety at every intersection he comes in contact with in his work.
