Lead Presenter Biography
Emiel Soffers is a road safety consultant at Arcadis in the Netherlands, where he has worked since 2018. He specializes in traffic safety and infrastructure design, with a strong focus on reducing serious road crashes through better design, policy, and human behavior. Emiel has conducted various studies for both national and regional road authorities, including on-site safety assessments and advisory reports for local governments. He also has in-depth knowledge of human factors in traffic engineering and applies this in his work to improve road user behavior and decision-making. One of his key projects includes the development of a national guide on countermeasures against wrong-way driving, commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat. Emiel attended the ISHGD conference in 2022 and looks forward to contributing again by sharing Dutch insights and learning from international peers.
