Daniel Hackett currently serves as the Committee Research Coordinator on TRB’s International Trade and Transportation Committee (AT-020) and is a member of the Ports and Channels Committee (AW-010) and its Port Performance sub-committee.
He is a partner at Hackett Associates, where he is active in maritime strategy issues, logistics management, and port logistics. Mr. Hackett is a certified urban planner, and specializes in financial, economic, and geographic information systems analysis. He runs the forecast and is editor of the North American edition of the Global Port Tracker, a monthly report that tracks container imports to the largest ports in Canada and the United States.
Past projects include conducting market studies for new or expanded container terminals; advising a major shipping alliance on regulatory issues; and developing a commodity/region level import/export forecast for the U.S. Maritime Administration. He currently serves as a Subject Matter Expert on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ Port Performance Freight Statistics Program.
