Vijay Khawani is the Executive Officer in the Risk, Safety, & Asset Management department at Los Angeles Metro. He has been with the agency for 29 years. His responsibilities include managing and implementing the overall activities and programs of Bus and Rail Safety, Construction Safety, and assisting with managing the Risk Management, and Asset Management functions at Metro. He was responsible for developing Metro’s PTASP, which was completed in April 2020, and is now involved with training and implementation of the PTASP. He is responsible for overseeing the activities of the department to ensure conformance with goals and objectives of reporting units, providing technical advice and policy recommendations on matters related to Metro’s transit design safety, construction safety, operations safety, and risk mitigation strategies, overseeing compliance with State & Federal agencies’ rules and regulations, and providing overall direction in the management, studies, investigations, and analyses of major capital safety enhancements at the direction of the CEO or Board of Directors.
