Session Description
Contracts for transportation projects often involve complex terms and conditions drafted by multiple authors with various backgrounds, making internal conflicts and ambiguities more likely, and leading to unnecessary friction and costly disputes that could have been avoided through better drafting practices. Some contracts may include provisions that are not practically enforceable. Our panel will engage in an interactive discussion of problems they have encountered in drafting and interpreting contracts for state and local transportation agencies, as well as legal issues considered in resolving disputes, and will provide practical tips about measures that agencies can adopt to reduce the chances of future problems.
