PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
This presentation will focus on the use of the Operational Design Domain (ODD) concept as it relates to the underlying assumptions in the newly published IEEE 2846-2020 standard.
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Kevin Gay is the Head of Safety for Autonomous Mobility & Delivery at Uber where he leads all safety aspects of the early integration and ongoing operation of autonomous mobility and delivery vehicles on our global platform. He also currently serves as the Secretary of the IEEE P2846 Working Group and a voting member of the SAE On-Road Automated Driving Committee, both of which are focused on developing safety standards for automated vehicles.
Prior to re-joining Uber, Kevin served as the Director, Safety Standards Policy at Aurora, where he led Aurora’s technical engagements with industry standards development organizations as well as developed the internal policies governing the utilization of safety standards in development and testing of the Aurora Driver.
Prior to joining the private sector, Kevin served for 16 years in the U.S. Department of Transportation where he led major initiatives on automated vehicles and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications technology. In his last role at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Kevin was the Senior Advisor for Technology Policy to the Deputy Administrator.
Kevin has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
