PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
One of the main objectives of the European Commission is to move towards climate neutral cities by 2050. In this context. Automated Road Transportation (supported by the Commission through a dedicated Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility - CCAM - partnership) plays a strategic enabling role. As such the European Commission is placing a significant effort in pursuing the maximum degree of synergies to ensure the needed complementarity between initiatives such as the "Cities' Mission", CCAM and other partnerships aimed at moving towards zero emissions for transport.
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Since April 2022, Mr Andrea DE CANDIDO is responsible for the Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility dossier in the frame of the Future Urban and Mobility Systems Unit of the Directorate General for Research & Innovation of the European Commission. Mr De Candido first joined the Commission in 2013 in the Research Infrastructure Unit. In 2017 he moved to DG HOME where he became responsible for the Unit dealing with Research and Innovation in the civil security dimension. Before joining the EU Institutions Mr De Candido had a 25 year long career in the Italian Army where he retired from in 2013 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
