PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
The CAV Forth project (https://www.cavforth.com/) will roll out a fleet of five level 4, full-sized buses and operate a scheduled service - for which the passengers will have to pay - across the Forth Road Bridge in Edinburgh, Scotland. The first results of the societal research about CAV Forth are presented. Benefits and risks of the automation of fixed-route, schedule bus services are discussed. Insights are provided on the attitudes of the potential passengers before the service is open to thee public.
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Achille is Professor of Transport Analysis and Planning at Edinburgh Napier University. He has a background in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Transport and Planning. Achille’s current research is in the area of travel behaviour in relation to sustainable and smart mobility. His research aims to promote a more equitable, cleaner, and safer mobility, making the most of the opportunities generated by new means of transport and business models, data and connectivity, and automation. He is leading the societal research in the Innovate UK/C-CAV flagship project CAV Forth.
