SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Ister Morales, P.E., P.M.P., is a Principal Consultant with 13 years of experience in a consulting environment providing transportation engineering and transportation planning services to public sector clients. She has experience managing and collaborating with applicable technical SMEs for different efforts. Ister uniquely has lifecycle engineering experience across the whole lifecycle of highway assets. This experience includes asset creation, asset reconstruction, maintenance management and integrating resilience across all phases of a project’s lifecycle.
For NJDOT’s development of the NJDOT Transportation Asset Management Plan (TAMP), Ister was responsible for the day-to-day management of the TAMP overseeing technical work across all aspects of the project. This was a hands-on role in all aspects of the technical work in close collaboration with DOT staff. She has prepared high-profile case studies authoring large parts of Arizona Department of Transportation and New Jersey Department of Transportation participation in FHWA pilot program to integrate resilience into asset management processes.
Ister's most recent extreme weather experience was living through Hurricane Fiona in Puerto Rico while pregnant, and ensuring resilient measures to survive a month without power with a three-year old. She is here with her now two-month old baby and may need to run out in case of a feeding emergency.
