Laura J. Mester, C.P.A.
Laura began working for the Michigan Department of Transportation in February 2011 as their Chief Administrative Officer. She oversees the Bureau of Finance and Administration, the Offices of Aeronautics, Enterprise Information Management, Passenger Transportation, and Rail, as well as the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie.
She is involved in several state and national initiatives critical to MDOT’s mission and strategic plan, including representing MDOT on the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Transportation Policy Forum and Subcommittees on Funding and Finance and Agency Administration.
A registered C.P.A., Laura’s distinguished career in state government spans 35 years of service. In addition to working at the MDOT, she started her career at the Office of the Auditor General in 1988 and also worked at the State Budget Office, Office of Financial Management for 17 years. She graduated from Michigan State University in December 1987, with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. She also received her Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1994 from Central Michigan University.
