SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Ronnie Valdivia is the Director of Asset Management for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). Ronnie brings his maintenance experience in Freight, Transit and Commuter Rail to help develop the Asset Management Program across all modes of transportation in the Greater Boston region. Ronnie has been working in the Transportation industry for over 13 years. Starting as an intern at the Expressway Authority in his hometown of Miami before moving into the Rail industry as a Signal Supervisor for a Class 1 Freight Railroad. While at CSX, Ronnie oversaw the operations and maintenance of the signal system for over 600 miles of railroad across the major corridors of North Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. Rejoining the public sector in 2016 at Miami-Dade Transit, in addition to leading maintenance activities, Ronnie helped implement design changes to the train control system to advance the delivery of 136 new rail cars. In 2018, Ronnie moved to Boston as a Commissioning Manager for Hitachi Rail to install, test and commission the federally mandated Positive Train Control system on MBTA’s Commuter Rail as well as a new Automatic Train Control system. Ronnie holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami where he majored in Electrical Engineering. As a first generation American, Ronnie is passionate about diversity and inclusion in the workplace and equitable transit options.
