Lead Presenter Biography
Dr. Jeffrey Newman, Ph.D. is a Senior Associate of Cambridge Systematics with more than 20 years of expertise in modeling and forecasting. He is the primary developer for multiple award-winning Python tools, including TMIP-EMAT, a toolkit for conducting and automating risk and exploratory analysis using large scale transportation planning models, and Larch, a package for the estimation of large scale advanced discrete choice models. He is currently leading the development of ActivitySim, an activity-based modeling platform developed and maintained by a multi-agency consortium. Dr. Newman has also played a key role in developing and maintaining the travel demand forecasting models used by the California High Speed Rail Authority, including the addition of parallel processing and distributed cluster computational capabilities. He is a member of the board of directors for the Zephyr Foundation. Dr. Newman received a Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Cornell University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University.
