Technological advancements, including electrification, alternate fuels, artificial intelligence, and intelligent transportation systems are changing transportation. This session explores how technological innovations are changing transportation and their impact on the economy, environment, and society.
Speaker Biography
Rimon Rafiah has worked as a research economist and economic consultant for more than 30 years. During this period, he has worked on many projects in diverse public sector fields which include transport, energy, environmental economics, and more. He has also performed many Public Private Partnership (P3) projects, including risk analysis and financial modelling (with Project Finance elements as well).
Rimon serves as Handling Editor of the Transportation Research Record, serves as co-chair of the Congestion Pricing Economics subcommittee, and is currently involved in several TRB standing committees, including the Economics and Finance committee, and the Economic Development and Land Use committee, and has has presented at TRB conferences many times.
As a consultant, Rimon has performed economics and finance projects both in the USA and outside of the USA (Central and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia). He has worked with consulting firms (such as EBP-US), public sector agencies, including governments, donors, and ministries. His work includes policy discussions and recommendations, training courses, and achievement of shared principles and outcomes with many stakeholders in a wide variety of forums.
