Driving Innovation: Practical AI Tools for Transportation Challenges
The advent of AI opens opportunities as well as presents challenges to the transportation community to serve our stakeholders better. The objectives of this workshop are to introduce participants to tools that encourage AI adoption in transportation by lowering the technical barriers to entry while providing a comprehensive understanding of how AI code generators work, their capabilities, potential use cases, and limitations.
There is no additional fee for this workshop.

Visual Storytelling – Data to Insights
The "Visual Storytelling: Data to Insights" workshop at the DATA Conference is designed to elevate participants' expertise in transportation data visualization. The session begins with an insightful presentation on ongoing NCHRP research to develop a Guide for Creating Effective Transportation Visualizations, highlighting key principles of effective visualization and the importance of feedback loops. Participants will then dive into interactive team stations to review and refine a draft guide on best practices. The workshop culminates in an exciting visualization challenge, where teams create compelling visualizations from a provided dataset, showcasing their ability to communicate key transportation insights effectively. The day wraps up with discussions on the role of AI in visualization and next steps for the NCHRP guide, ensuring participants leave with actionable insights and enhanced skills. Whether you’re a planner, analyst, engineer, or communicator, this session will equip you with practical strategies to turn data into insights that drive action.
